About Father Philip-Michael F. Tangorra, STL

Fr. Philip-Michael Tangorra is a priest of the Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey. He was the co-founder and president of “Hands of Mary for Haiti,” an Association of the Christian Faithful aimed at helping the people of Notre Dame du Perpetuel Secours parish in Fragneau-Ville, Haiti materially and spiritually as they recover from the devastating earthquake there in 2010. He served as the parochial vicar for the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Morristown, New Jersey, where he also served on the Board of Directors for the Neighborhood House in Morristown. He rebuilt and created an award-winning Catholic Campus Ministry at William Paterson University serving as its chaplain. He has also served as the Assistant Coordinator for Evangelization for the Diocese of Paterson. He is the author of “Holiness and Living the Sacramental Life” a part of the “Living Faith Series” published by Emmaus Road. He has recently published a Confirmation Program “This Is Our Faith” which has received approval and doctrinal conformity from the USCCB Sub-Committee on Catechesis. He has a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Angelicum in Rome and a Licentiate in Canon Law from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. He is currently the pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Branchville, New Jersey, a Judge of the Tribunal of Paterson, and Censor Librorum. Fr. Philip-Michael is also the Canonical Consultant on the Son Rise Morning Show and can be heard internationally every Wednesday on EWTN and Sacred Heart Radio. Lastly, Fr. Philip-Michael received a royal knighthood in 2020 from Prince Carlo of the House of Bourbon - Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, becoming an Ecclesiastical Knight of Grace in the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George; and in 2023 was installed a deputy chaplain and in 2026 was elevated to a Magistral Chaplain by Timothy Cardinal Dolan in the Sovereign Military Hospitallers Order of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta. Fr. Tangorra is currently working on a doctoral dissertation in canon law at the Catholic University of America entitled: Harmonizing a Possible Discordance between the Presumption of Innocence and the Presumption of Imputability in Canon 1321.
