Most Rev. Jean Clement Marie Laffitte (b.1952) is the current secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family since October 22, 2009. He previously served as vice president of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Since 1994, he has taught at the institute as a professor of conjugal ethics, anthropology, and spirituality at the Lateran University. From 1999 to 2001, he served as vice dean. Since 2003, he has been a consultor of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On January 28, 2005, as the undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family. He was appointed Vice President of the Pontifical Academy for Life on January 24, 2006; and was appointed secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family and titular bishop of Entrevaux on October 22, 2009.
